The company that became Movie Star was first started as the Industrial Undergarment Corp in 1935 in New York City's Garment District. With a name like that we can only imagine the austere styles they originally manufactured. In the early 1940s the company revamped their image and began producing stylish sweater girl bras and elegant slips. They changed their name to Stardust Lingerie and incorporated the Movie Star label into their intimates. In 2006 Frederick's of Hollywood merged with Movie Star and the headquarters was moved to New York. In 2008 the company changed its name to Frederick's of Hollywood Group Inc.
